For MD MS admissions in any college across Tamil Nadu, one needs to qualify the NEET PG examination which is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate courses in Medicine conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). 

 

The application window for the NEET PG 2023 exam which is to be held on 5th March, 2023 is closed now but the Final Edit Window to rectify any uploaded image such as Photograph, Signature or Thumb impression will be open from 14th to 17th February, 2023.

Facilities

Eligibility criteria for NEET PG 2023:

  • Candidates who have completed MBBS and have the MBBS degree or provisional MBBS pass certificate recognized by the NMC
  • Candidates must possess a permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the National Medical Commission (formerly known as Medical Council of India) or State Medical Council.
  • The applicant must have completed or likely to complete one year of Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship on or before 30th June, 2023. (The earlier cut-off date for completion of internship was 31st March, 2023 which has been extended to 30th June, 2023 now).
  • All Indian nationals can appear for NEET PG exam 2023
  • Foreign medical graduates (Indian citizens or OCIs) need to pass the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) to be eligible for the NEET PG exam and should also be registered by the NMC.
  • Foreign nationals should have completed MBBS or equivalent qualification as recognised by NMC and obtain a temporary registration issued by the NMC for the duration of the PG course.
  • There is no maximum age limit for the NEET PG exam.


 

Additional eligibility criteria for PG admissions in Tamil Nadu:

  • Candidates must possess an MBBS degree from a college recognised by the Dr. MGR Medical University or submit an eligibility certificate.
  • Domicile Certificate: Candidates must be domiciles of Tamil Nadu state to apply for PG admissions in the state and submit relevant supporting documents.

The counselling for PG admissions in Tamil Nadu is conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education, Tamil Nadu (DME). The application form for PG admissions in Tamil Nadu has not been released yet and will be available online at the official website Selection Committee- DME (tnmedicalselection.net).

 

NEET PG Cut Off 2023 for PG admissions in Tamil Nadu

 

General: 50th percentile

General with physical disabilities: 45th percentile

SC/ST/OBC: 40th percentile

SC/ST/OBC with physical disabilities: 40th percentile

Documents required for MD MS admissions in Tamil Nadu:

 

  • NEET PG 2023 Admit Card as well as Score card
  • MBBS degree and internship completion certificate
  • Medical registration (provisional or permanent) issued by MCI
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Caste certificate
  • Disability certificate (if applicable)
  • Payment receipt for the application form

 

NRI candidates are required to submit a certificate stating the status of the candidate’s financial supporter (local guardian) issued by the Indian Embassy of the respective country. A certificate stating the relationship of the local guardian with the applicant along with the passport and bank account details of the guardian must also be submitted.

 

Counselling for PG admissions in Tamil Nadu 2023:

 

All candidates listed in the merit list declared by DME as per the NEET PG 2023 score will be eligible for PG counselling. The candidate must pay a non-refundable fee of Rs.1000 and select their preferred college as well as specialisation while filling the TN admissions application form. 

 

Reservation Policy for PG admissions in Tamil Nadu:

 

Some seats are reserved for armed forces as well as under various state and management quota for PG admission in the government as well as private medical colleges of Tamil Nadu. 50% seats are reserved under state quota in various medical colleges of Tamil Nadu  and the qualifying criteria for the same differs from one college to another.
