Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical Educational and Charitable Trust were started by our Founder Chancellor Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram in the year 1981 to serve the needy in the society. The Trust established the very first medical college in Pondicherry, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital in the year 2000. Located in NH Pondicherry - Cuddalore Road, a national highway, the self-contained and serene campus is spread over 44 acres of lush green lands.
Initially the Institution was affiliated to Pondicherry University subsequently it came under the ambit of Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation Deemed to be University, in the year 2004. The Institution offers Post Graduate courses in 13 disciplines and Ph.D. programs across various specialities and interdisciplinary areas. The first batches of 100 students were admitted for 2000-2001 sessions, and every year thereafter. At present, the annual intake is 150 MBBS and 74 Post Graduate students, and over 750 UG and POSTGRADUATE Students are pursuing their studies at AVMCH.

Aarupadai Veedu Medical College (AVMC) is situated at Kirumampakkam in Pondicherry. It was established in the year 2000 and is affiliated to Vinayaka Mission University (VMU), Salem.
Aarupadai Veedu Medical College offers five and a half year MBBS at the UG level. The college also offers three-year MD and MS at the PG level along with two-year Diploma courses.
