Can I Participate in Both AIQ and State Counselling for NEET UG 2026?

Yes. Candidates who qualify for NEET UG 2026 can participate in both All India Quota (AIQ) counselling conducted by MCC and State Quota counselling conducted by the respective state counselling authorities.

Under the All India Quota (AIQ), 15% of MBBS and BDS seats in government medical and dental colleges are allotted through MCC counselling. In addition, MCC conducts counselling for admissions to AIIMS, JIPMER, Central Universities, Deemed Universities, ESIC medical colleges, AFMC (subject to eligibility), and other participating institutes. The remaining 85% of State Quota seats are filled by the respective state counselling authorities according to their domicile requirements, reservation policies, and eligibility criteria.

Candidates should note that the registration process for MCC (AIQ) counselling and State Quota counselling is separate. Registering for MCC counselling does not automatically make a candidate eligible for State Quota counselling. Candidates who wish to participate in state counselling must complete a separate registration on the official counselling portal of their respective state

MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026: Tie-Breaking Rules

If two or more candidates secure the same NEET UG rank, the tie-breaking rules prescribed by the NTA are applied to determine the merit order

  • Candidates with higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology) are given first preference.

  • If the tie persists, the candidate with higher marks in Chemistry is ranked higher.

  • If the tie still remains, Physics marks are considered.

  • If candidates are still tied, preference is given to the candidate with a lower proportion of incorrect answers across all subjects.

The final NEET UG All India Rank (AIR), prepared by the NTA after applying these tie-breaking rules, is used by the MCC for seat allotment during the counselling process
