NEET PG 2026 Registers Highest-Ever 2.73 Lakh Applications; Nadda Reviews Readiness

NEET PG 2026 has registered a record-breaking 2.73 lakh applicants, marking the highest number of registrations in the examination's history. The exam will be held in a single shift across 340 cities at more than 1,300 test centres. Ahead of the examination, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda advised candidates to avoid misinformation and refrain from believing rumours circulating on social media or other platforms 

The NEET PG 2026 examination has witnessed its highest-ever registrations, with 2,73,183 candidates applying for the postgraduate medical entrance test. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, registrations have increased by approximately 12.5% compared to the previous year. The examination will be conducted in a single shift across 340 cities at more than 1,300 examination centres nationwide.

Record 2.73 Lakh Candidates Register for NEET PG 2026 

Officials have announced that 2,73,183 candidates have registered for NEET PG 2026, marking the highest number of registrations in the history of the examination. The exam will be conducted in a single shift across approximately 340 cities at more than 1,300 examination centres. In view of the record participation, the authorities are taking extensive measures to ensure the smooth, secure, and transparent conduct of the examination. To enhance the overall examination experience, the following student-friendly reforms have been introduced:

  • Candidates were given the option to select three preferred states while submitting the NEET PG 2026 application form.

  • The allotted examination city will be communicated to candidates approximately three weeks before the exam.

  • The question paper pattern has been revised to 180 questions, with a total duration of 210 minutes.

  • Aadhaar-based authentication will be used during both the registration process and on the examination day.

  • Multi-layer verification and security checks will be implemented at all examination centres.

  • Iris-based biometric verification will be conducted in cases where fingerprint authentication is unsuccessful.
