In order to save time and get a seat before the deadline, it is advised to be well prepared for the admissions process before it starts. Knowing the qualifications and eligibility requirements for admission aids in making an informed decision and helps minimise last-minute confusion and panic. The higher demand for medical practitioners in India causes seats in the MBBS programme to fill up more quickly than those in other programmes. Thus, being prepared beforehand and being aware of the admissions process enables one to seize the chance early. The eligibility criteria, admission process as well as the relevant documents necessary for admission to MBBS colleges in India are provided below.

Admission procedure for MBBS admissions
- As admission windows are typically only open for a brief period of time, be vigilant and aware of the application deadlines and dates for various government and private colleges around India.
- Apply online, pay the required fees, and register for the specific college.
- The NEET score and quota reservations determine which individuals are shortlisted, and those candidates are subsequently contacted for counselling.
- After submitting the required paperwork and payment, admission is complete.
- Make a very careful judgement about your selected college if you are invited for counselling by more than one college because the seat you once turned down cannot be given to you again.
Counselling Schedule
- There are typically two counselling sessions: the first is for registration, fee payment, and seat allotment. Students who enrolled for round 1 but were unable to secure a spot should register for round 2. In Round 2, new registrations are accepted as well (if required).
- Seats under the State Quota and the All-India Quota are subject to the two rounds of counselling. Counselling's Mop-Up Round and Stray Vacancy Round are primarily for places at Central or Deemed Universities.
- The All India Quota has the following quota guidelines: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 25% for OBC, 10% for EWS, and 5% for those with disabilities.
